ThotsLab, an in-school Thinking Skills development program conceptualized by Mind Edutainment Pvt. Ltd. was named as Asia’s Best Education Innovation, 2013 at the WCRC Leaders Asian Education Excellence Summit & Awards, held recently in New Delhi.
Mr. Ashutosh Khurana, Co-Founder & CEO, Mind Edutainment Pvt Ltd and Mrs. Sangeeta Khurana, Director-Product Development, received the award at the hands of Mr. Parvez Dewan, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, GoI, Dr. C S Nagpal, Vice Chancellor, Ansal University and Mr. Rahul Shah, Assoc. Director (Risk Consulting), KPMG.
Explaining the need for THOTS Lab developed by Mind Edutainment to focus on thinking skills development in children during Primary & Middle years of education, Ashutosh quipped – “In any individual, thinking forms the basis for any performance – professional, personal, academic or non-academic. And, as we know Thinking can’t be developed just by giving instructions, it gets developed by direct experiences. For e.g. If someone were to tell me “Ashutosh you need to be patient”. I would appreciate the input but I would not know what I need to do to be ‘patient’ or what thinking should I apply to be ‘patient’. Thus, to develop thinking in children, we should be able to make children see how they think, what is the gap in their current way of thinking, how can they overcome it, and if they overcome it, how this new way of thinking can help them perform better in other spheres – academics and real life”
Ashutosh was also a key panel speaker in a panel discussion on “Role of private Education Providers in Sustainable Inclusive Growth”. In this session, the panel deliberated on how private education providers could work within the government policies in contributing towards creating a framework for sustainable and inclusive growth of educational systems.
The event which witnessed participation from leading education institutions like The Doon School, XLRI, SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Christian Medical College, Asian College of Journalism, Gulf Medical University, Bangkok University, among others.
